Time zones advancded scheduling

I am on the USA east coast and setting up scheduled notifications for an event happeing in August on the USA west coast. My wordpress site is already in west coast time, but the webpushr panel is seeing me as east coast time since that my physcial location

How can I properly schedule manual web push notifications and still hit the time zone properly as they are time sensitive and used for our users to be sent reminders while at a tradeshow.

Should I setup my advanced scheduled notications with a 3 hour offset? so I know that the users on west coast at the event will get them on the right time? or is there another way to tell the Webpushr website admin panel to make my timezone west coast?

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out!

If you’re planning to schedule a post from WordPress, and your WordPress site is already set to West Coast time, then you’re all set — the push notification (triggered by the post) will follow that time zone automatically. No need to adjust anything further.

However, if you’re planning to schedule a manual push notification directly from the Webpushr dashboard, the scheduling will follow your local system time (in this case, East Coast time). In that case, yes — applying a 3-hour offset would be the right way to ensure your West Coast users receive the notification at the correct local time.

Let us know if you need help setting this up!

I will not be pushing from the website, but I will be doing a manual push for these notifications. so I will schedule those with the 3 hour offset, easy enough.

I have some friends that are on the west coast and will be testing this method with them soon. The event isn’t until August so I have time to work out any bugs.

another question:
Once I physcially arrive on the west coast time zone and log into webpushr to possibly schedule another notifcation or edit an existing one. Does the panel recognize me as west coast at that point? would it affect any existing pre-scheduled messages I have stored?

Thanks for the clarification.

As mentioned earlier, scheduling is based on your local system time , which depends on your system’s current timezone. To make this clearer, we display your current timezone in the Scheduled section, so you can easily confirm the time zone being used.

However, this will not affect any pre-scheduled notifications that you’ve already created — those will remain scheduled based on the original time they were set for (using your local time at the time of scheduling).

If you create or edit new notifications while on the West Coast, just be aware that the panel will then reflect your local (West Coast) time accordingly.

Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions — happy to help you get everything set up smoothly before your event!
